TO help the community of Frome have a low-cost and sustainable Christmas, Frome Families for the Future held an Eco Festive Christmas craft fair on Saturday 26th November and raised over £400 for next year’s activities.
At the event there was inspiration for low-cost gifts, eco gift wrapping, DIY decorations, sustainable gifts from local makers, and a toy and book swap.
Event organisers said, “We organised the Eco Festive Craft event to show people how achievable it is to make your own low-cost crafts to make special gifts and have a low impact Christmas. We were overjoyed by the response, we had a full house from the moment we opened, until the moment we closed! Hopefully families are now inspired to have a greener Christmas and will share their experiences with friends and family. The group’s tips for giving were; 1. Give memories; 2. Give time; 3. Upcycle and Mend; 4. Buy second hand and swap; 5. Make; 6. Buy ethically; 7. Buy.”
The group, Frome Families for the Future, organise events to help raise awareness of local and national and global issues.
They want to help people connect with nature, make simple big changes to help the environment, lobby MPs, hold polluters to account and aim to make the future brighter for future generations.
