AN EVENT at The Wheatsheaves in November raised £1,408 for a handful of local mental health charities.
‘Creatures of Deep Space,’ an art, music and fire exhibition at the pub on Bath Street, was held to raise money for Mind Taunton and West Somerset (TWS), which runs Mindline Somerset and Somerset Suicide Bereavement Support Service (SSBSS).
Local DJ James Davidson organised the event in conjunction with record label Deep Space Records.
James said, “I would like to thank Toby Prin for allowing us to use his venue. The Wheatsheaves was the perfect place for the fundraiser, with plenty of space for our art exhibition, fire performers and room for everybody to boogie.
“I was hoping to raise about £500 but was amazed when we raised almost three times that. The remarkable total is credit to the dozens of artists, friends, and ravers who helped out. Creatures of Deep Space will be back.”
Mindline project leader Mike Jackson said, “The event was a huge success and it really brought different people together from the art world and the music world. We were also able to highlight mental health and what services are available in Somerset for the community. We really appreciated the hard work that James put in to make it a success and also raise a lot of money for Mind TWS.”
Mind TWS runs call service Mindline to help people in Somerset who find themselves in need of someone to talk to, or advice about mental health services.
