THERE is a whole host of entertainment and events for you at the Cheese and Grain this January.
On Tuesday 7th January, burn off all that Christmas food with a dance workout from Frome’s Rare Species.
Organisers say, “Mojo Moves is a social fitness phenomenon brought to you by Rare Species Theatre Company combining comedy with a proper dance workout to great music and theme tunes from the 70s 80s and 90s. taking you back to old skool and school days, when makeup was bold and hair was big!
“Laugh, reminisce, shake your booty and feel like your old self again. Dressing up optional! Payment on the door.”
The session is £6 and starts at 7pm.
On Wednesday 8th January join lead singer of The Ataris, Kristopher Roe as he takes to the stage.
Organisers say, “Indiana-bred pop-punk outfit The Ataris gained cult status in the late ’90s with a series of albums before gaining independent chart success with 2001’s End Is Forever.
“The group, led by singer/guitarist Kris Roe, gained widespread attention with 2003’s So Long, Astoria, which included a cover of Don Henley’s “Boys of Summer,” hitting number 24 on the Billboard 200.
“Despite line-up changes, Roe continues to lead the group, touring often and showcasing his knack for alt-rock hooks on albums like 2007’s Welcome the Night and 2016’s October in This Railroad Earth.”
Doors 7pm with support acts TBA at 7.30pm and 8.15pm – 8.45pm. Kris Roe will perform at 9pm.
Tickets are £12.50.
On Friday 10th January, join China Bears for a free entry concert plus special guests and Alice//Bystanders.
Organisers say, “China Bears formed in the winter of 2015 after twin brothers Ivan and Frazer met James and Dean at university in Guildford.
“Since then, they have released three singles independently, played all across the UK and received national radio play from Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 1, Steve Lamacq on BBC 6, Melita Dennett on BBC introducing and John Kennedy on Radio X.
“They have supported the likes of: To Kill a King, The Districts, Declan McKenna, The Howl & The Hum, Gengahr and many more. China Bears create misery anthemic indie combining ambient guitars, choral vocals and raw lyric writing.
“In 2019 China Bears teamed up with Fierce Panda for the release of their debut EP ‘I’ve Never Met Anyone Like You’, which is out now!”
The show starts at 7.30pm.
