The popular Hidden Gardens of Frome is back this month with more than 50 gardens open to raise much-needed funds for the Frome Festival and local charities.
Hidden Gardens will run from 10th to 12th July, enabling people to see the spaces that local gardeners create and care for.
Gardens will be open between 10.30am and 4.30pm throughout the weekend. After last year’s scorchingly hot weather, 25 gardens will open later on Friday evening, from 4.30pm to 7.30pm.
Organisers say, “Hidden Gardens is a highlight of the Frome Festival. Do look carefully at the opening days as many of our volunteer gardeners choose to take a day or two out of the weekend to wander around town and enjoy other people’s offerings.
“We have 14 new gardens, from large spaces like Easthill House to fascinating smaller spaces like 21 The Mint – packed with subtropical abundance. There’s plenty of old favourites from previous years as well, so if you found last year too hot to get around everywhere you wanted to see, now’s your chance.
“We do ask that each person purchases their own individual programme please, as all that money goes directly to fund the Frome Festival. Under 12s get free entry without a programme, as we’re keen to capture the imaginations of our next generation of gardeners. Many gardens also offer refreshments, craft or plant sales in support of their own favourite charities and last year that generated over £4,500 for good causes like WHY, Fair Frome, Cancer Research and many more. Some may take credit cards but do bring cash if you can.”
Programmes are available from Cheese and Grain, Winstone’s Hunting Raven Books, Victoria Park Café, Ellenbray, Discover Frome, the town hall and Millers Homewares.
Programmes are also available for download from the Frome Festival website: https://fromefestival.co.uk/hidden-gardens/
