Volunteers from Fair Frome, a local charity supporting local people living with poverty, will be running a Pop up Charity shop in the Westway precinct.
The shop will be opening on Monday 23rd February and volunteers are calling for donations.
The money raised from the shop will go directly into supporting the work of the charity which delivers hands on projects which help local people bounce back from the difficulties of living with poverty and include the Frome Food Bank.
The items they are going to sell include; men’s and women’s coats, children’s clothes, toys, games and bric a brac, scarves, gloves and handbags, jewellery and bed linen, and they need your donations of good quality items to bring in the money.
Kate Hellard from the charity said, “This is the first of many fundraising events we plan to run in the town this year. We have some funding from the town council but this amounts to about half of the funding we need each year to run the Food Bank, Kitchen Pack and Washing projects and to enable us to respond to the needs of local people with new projects.
“We are currently applying for grant funding to run another series of Community Dining sessions which proved very successful last year, and would like to hear from any local businesses who would be interested in sponsoring one or more of these events.
“We were overwhelmed by the support the people of Frome gave us last year and are looking forward to working with everyone in the town to address the underlying causes of poverty in Frome in 2015, with real projects that make a real different to the lives of local people.”
