Frome Museum and Black Swan Arts are joining up for a magical market day at The Frome Independent.
On Sunday 6th December from 10.00am – 3.00pm, both venues will open especially for the Christmas crowds. Situated at the centre of town, exactly where the free Park and Ride buses drop off, come explore the festive delights of Frome’s museum and arts centre.
At Frome Heritage Museum there is one last chance to see the successful exhibition ‘Making an Impression: Frome’s Printing Past’, which celebrates Frome’s printing heritage and Museum Takeover Day exhibition devised and put on by the children of St John’s School.
As part of an exciting project with Critchill School and Kate Beilby, Mayor of Frome, you can have a go at printing the design of the Mayor’s Christmas card on the historic Harrild printing press. The museum shop will also be open selling books and calendars of local interest and the wonderful Frome Printmakers will also have a stall of prints and cards for sale.
Across the road there are three new exhibitions at Black Swan Arts; ‘A Winter Show’ upstairs in the Gallery presenting some of the UK’s finest craftspeople in a breathtaking and atmospheric exhibition.
‘Starting from Scratch’ in the Round Tower, celebrates printmaking with eight local artists. Frome Open Studios at Diva’s Café also showcases the breadth of artistic talent within the area. A special Art Market in the Round Tower and courtyard hosts fabulous local makers and a wonderful chance to buy direct from artists.
At 2.30pm join the spoken Words workshop in the Gallery, open to everyone. SEED has its usual range of stunning glass baubles and exceptional gifts, visit artists in the four working studios and refresh in Diva’s café.
You might even see a few festive storm troopers along the way!
Entrance to both venues is totally free, the perfect antidote to Christmas mayhem. Both venues rely on volunteers to stay open, new faces behind the scenes are always welcome.
All these exhibitions are only open thanks to teams of dedicated volunteers who regularly give their time. Entrance is free and new supporters are always welcome. Please support your local venues. For more details, visit www.blackswan.org.uk or www.frome-heritage-museum.org
