PUPILS from Berkley CE School were up close with livestock and were getting their hands dirty on a Field to Food learning day at the Bath & West Showground recently.
“Our pupils got to experience a range of activities to enable them to recognise and appreciate what farmers do in Britain,” says Suzanne Thompson, headteacher of the school. “It was one of the best school trips the children have ever had!
“They learned about the daily tasks that farmers undertake and about where their food comes from. The pupils were engaged all day and came back with so much knowledge. Their favourites were apple pressing with the Newt, observing the sheep shearing, tasting the various foods on offer and making a windmill. Thank you to all the organisers; Berkley learnt so much about British and local produce.” ”
