Frome musician Vicki Burke is bringing one of Bristol’s best-loved band Flash Harry back to Frome for the Frome Festival, playing at The Cornerhouse on Saturday July 15th.
Joining a packed Frome Festival programme, Flash Harry’s appearance adds an authentic and foot stomping free gig to the busy season.
Flash Harry have been playing for over 30 years and regularly fill out top venues in Bristol and the South West with their fast and infectious brand of folk, rock, Balkan and blues. The band members have a fascinating musical heritage including Up Bustle and Out, Fat Stanley and both Vicki Burke and fiddle player Pete Watson worked with Vivian Stanshall on his eccentric musical ‘Stinkfoot’.
Last summer’s Frome Festival saw Flash Harry pull a big crowd at The Cornerhouse, with the pub so packed that people began dancing outside in the street. Martin Early who owns the Cornerhouse says, “I think that getting Flash Harry back to the pub this Festival was a no-brainer, they are a fabulous band and last year they brought the biggest crowd we’ve ever had. I hope that those that didn’t manage to get through the door last July get a chance to see them this time.”
Saxophonist, Vicki Burke, who has been playing with Flash Harry for over 20 years said, “Bringing Flash Harry back to Frome is always great fun, I love playing in front of my home crowd and the band have developed quite a following here now. The band love it too as they are very much a Bristol outfit, so playing in towns outside of the city is a real buzz.”
Flash Harry play The Cornerhouse for the Frome Festival on Saturday 15th July at 9pm, entry is free although the hat will be passed around during the gig. The gig features in the Frome Festival programme and is event No 1524
