A football club in Frome has scored funding from a leading housebuilder to help buy new kit and equipment, ready for the new season.
Frome Collegians Football Club has received a £800 donation from Persimmon Homes Wessex.
The money was donated through the housebuilder’s monthly Community Champions scheme. Each month, the regional business donates up to £2,000 to community groups across the region.
The football club which formed in 1975, has gained popularity over the years with successful adult, youth and mini soccer sections and applied for the funding to purchase kit and equipment for the new season ahead.
Lee Saviour, vice chairman of the club said, “We are so grateful to Persimmon Homes Wessex for this generous donation.
“The football club is so important for helping to engage young people in sport activities and is a great opportunity for youngsters to not only develop their skills, but also socialise with other members.
“Our members will look like true professionals in their brand new kit and the equipment will help ensure the team is reaching their full potential.”
Pauline Fletcher, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes Wessex said, “We are delighted to select Frome Collegians Football Club as part of our Community Champions scheme. Any football club is a big part of the community, and it’s fantastic to see children start playing so young and progress through the teams.”
