FROME actress, Kayleigh-Paige Rees will play the female lead in a film ‘Ann Rolls Green’ which will feature on Amazon Prime later this year.
Kayleigh-Paige has only been acting professionally for two and a half years before landing the prestigious role. After graduating from Bath Dance College, she realised that a career in acting was something she wanted to pursue and after finding agents to help her on her journey, she has now been continually working in roles for the past two years.
She has been in numerous short films that have been highly commended on the Indie and Film Festival circuits, such as being the lead of a Samsung commercial, playing Florence in a Chinese feature film called ‘White Oak’ which partnered with Pinewood and playing Tilda in a feature film called ‘Dirty Work.’
Her new role in the film ‘Ann Rolls Green’ is with Evolution Productions, and is a comedy that features a neurotic woman named Ann who enlists the help of her unhinged cousin Denny, along with his totally ineffectual religious cult, to help her track down her ex-boyfriend Frank – who disappeared without a trace the previous year.
Kayleigh-Paige said, “I really didn’t expect to get the lead in a film for years from now. I was content with working my way up, so for this to happen is surreal and challenging in the best way possible. It’s the nicest feeling to have your hard work paying off. It’s also empowering being a female-driven lead for this film instead of a female supporting lead, it’s a very nice feeling.
“It’s a location shoot and it’s being filmed in Bristol for six weeks. I don’t normally shoot near home so it feels like even more of a bonus and amazing luck. It will be at Sundance and London Film Festival this summer and then on Amazon Prime at the end of this year/start of new year.
“To get the role I did a self tape for the film, which means you film yourself doing a scene from the film. I didn’t hear back for a while, I thought I hadn’t got it. I auditioned for two roles Ann and Jane (who is a supporting role) and when they contacted me and offered me the role of Ann, I genuinely could not believe it as I really didn’t think I was getting a part.
“I just feel incredibly lucky and proud to have been given this opportunity and I can’t wait to start filming.”
