Local Frome boxer, Ryan Wheeler, is finally set to re-enter the ring two after two years off due to restrictions put in place the Covid 19 pandemic.
The 28-year-old was unable to fight since the start of lockdowns since 2020, but will be attending MECA-Swindon boxing event on the 18th September.
Ryan had this to say about the upcoming fight: “My next fight is my biggest yet as I’m going up in weight, but I’ve never felt stronger. This will be my first fight since the loss so I’ve been training like mad to make sure I’m ready and confident.
“I personally want to say thank you to all my sponsors and supporters throughout the years. I hope you’ll be in Swindon cheering me on.”
“The sponsors have been fantastic to me as they’ve helped me with the MRI scan and licence to make sure I’m fit and ready to go.”
The super featherweight is to be sponsored by local heating engineers, Brûler LTD, who are confident of his chances and hope he will keep his good form going into the bout.
Ryan is looking to continue his decent record, recording only one loss in his career. He’s looking to bounce back and hopes the copious amount of extra training and move to heavier class with work in his favour.
