THIS year marks the 40th anniversary of Frome’s Twinning agreement with Murrhardt, in Germany.
To mark the occasion, Frome Twinning Association held a German evening for members and Frome residents and invited some representatives of Murrhardt to visit Frome and attend the evening.
“We were very pleased to welcome our friends from Murrhardt and join with us in celebrating 40 years of friendship between our towns,” says Justin Worringham from the association.
“The event, held on Friday 10th November and was a great success and all enjoyed German food and a quiz based on the past four decades since our twinning began.
“Eight guests from Germany were also able to enjoy a visit to our local parkrun, Stourhead gardens, cider tasting at Lilley’s Cider and Sunday lunch at a local pub. They also attended Frome’s annual Remembrance Ceremony, where two Murrhardt councillors placed a wreath on behalf of their town.
“Over the past 40 years many individuals, schools, groups and organisations have been able to make strong links with Murrhardt and have benefitted from collaboration in many ways.”
Thomas Zeeb, responsible for twinning in Murrhardt, said, “Thank you again for 48 wonderful hours in Frome and Stourhead.”
