Frome Community Cars has a new coordinator.
The service which provides volunteer transport has recruited Morag Stuart to oversee and administer the scheme.
Established in 2016, the service was set up by Frome Town Council with support from Frome Medical Practice to redress the cuts to bus services and the closure of a local doctor’s surgery. The scheme is now overseen by Sustainable Frome and has 300 members and 15 dedicated, hardworking volunteer drivers.
Frome Community Cars provides a vital service for older people as well as those with physical or mental disability, ill health, isolation or other factors. The aim is to help local residents with journeys which they might otherwise be unable to make, whether that’s health appointments, shopping or even visiting friends.
Morag Stuart brings a wealth of experience, having previously worked as the administrator for the National Youth Orchestra of GB and is a trustee with responsibility for volunteers at Black Swan Arts.
The scheme is always looking for more volunteer drivers. Those interested in volunteering or getting further information about accessing the service can call Morag on 07596 591 391.
