Bishopston 1st XI win by 2 wickets. Frome 1st XI 141-9 (45overs). Bishopston 1st XI 143-8 (35.5 overs)
FROME fell to a disappointing defeat at the hands of Bishopston after another poor batting display.
Having won the toss and deciding to bat, Frome knew the opening stages would be tricky and the Bishopston bowlers, Harris and Cook made life hard work for the batters. Frome started slowly scoring 9 runs off the first 9 overs and then slumped to 51-6 as a number of the top order gift-wrapped their wickets for the opposition.
Lett and Barton looked to rebuild until Barton was dismissed off a long hop from Codd. This brought Watts to the crease in what became the partnership of the innings for Frome. The pair knocked the ball around with little trouble and managed a partnership of 31 before Lett was bowled for 36 by the excellent Harris.
Watts managed to carry on and finished with 21 not out, to help Frome get to 141 which would give them a small chance of winning.
In reply the hosts lost a couple of wickets to the bowling of Barton, however a partnership between Predgen and Jungbauer took Bishopston 97-3 at the drinks break. Frome knew they had to get wickets straight after the break if they had any chance of winning the match, captain and vice-captain Sanger and Croker lead the charge picking up 4 quick wickets and the home side were rattled at 130-8, however a couple of big blows from Cook eventually took Bishopston over the line.
