A show-stopping celebration of arts and culture has run in 58 venues across Frome and the surrounding area for the town’s 25th Frome Festival.
More than 300 events were held over 10 days from 3rd to 12th July. Headline names included Sir Tony Robinson, Irish folk singer Cara Dillon and Sam Lakeman, comedian Phil Ellis, and actor Nigel Planer.
Events included a special anniversary performance of the musical King of Fools at the Merlin Theatre, a large-scale performance of Duke Ellington’s Sacred Concert featuring a big band and local singers, and the return of the popular Food Feast. Around 160 events at this year’s festival were free or cost up to £5.
Festival director Adam Laughton said, “Frome has come alive across the festival with arts and culture in all shapes and sizes. Personal highlights included a bumper Food Feast with so many attendees of all ages, a stellar selection of gigs celebrating Frome’s jazz talent and fascinating literary events across the Words at Frome Festival programme.
“Our aim is to celebrate everything artistic Frome has to offer – I hope everyone who’s attended any event has seen the amazing cultural community we have in this town.”
More than 50 gardens were also on display as part of Hidden Gardens of Frome, alongside literary events, workshops, art exhibitions, free walks and talks, wellness activities, a dance music night and a children’s Wildlife Parade through the town centre.
