TWO Frome lads slept out under the stars recently, taking part in the Great Tommy Sleep Out, raising £190.
Dillon Castle and Josh Taylor are both 13 years old. They stayed out all night in the garden in a tent, cooking for themselves with limited resources, and braving the wind and rain to raise funds for the Great Tommy Sleep Out; a national fundraising challenge supporting the estimated 6,000 veterans experiencing homelessness.
Dillon’s mum Jess said, “This was Josh’s idea and when he asked Dillion if he wanted to do it with him, they were both really excited to take part. Dillon goes to Frome Army cadets and is late grandfather was in the British army so this cause is close to his heart. They stayed out all night and cooked for themselves on a portable stove. They didn’t expect to raise as much money as they did.
“The weather was terrible. They braved the wind and rain and during the night they had to take down their tarpaulin because it was so windy. They did amazingly well!”
