The Frome Lions will hold their Annual Sponsored Swim on Sunday 23rd March at 5.00pm at the Frome Leisure Centre, and are looking for more teams to enter.
This will be the 29th year for the sponsored swim, and the Lions Club of Frome are once again inviting entries for this annual event. This gives a good opportunity of any clubs and organisation to raise funds for themselves or for other charitable causes.
The event this year is again supported by Aggregate Industries. Their support will cover the costs of the event, which means that the whole of the funds raised through sponsorship can be used for good causes.
Dan Norris, public relations officer for the Lions Club of Frome explains, “The proceeds will be shared (50/50) between a charity of your choice or your own club/school funds etc and Frome Lions Club Charitable Trust. This year we plan to donate the majority of our share to the Lions Charities.”
Each team consists of six volunteer swimmers of which one is nominated as captain, and then in relay they would try to swim as many lengths of the pool in 25 minutes as possible. The Lions wish to stress the event is strenuous and that all participants are competent swimmers, especially with children’s teams.
Upon registration of the team the time of the swim will be allocated, so if you want an early or later time please ask. All swimmers obtain their own sponsors, with which, forms provided by the Lions, are to be written down.
