The Frome branch of the Macular Society is holding an event this month to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
The charity supports people who are partially sighted and those with macular degeneration by running support groups and social events.
On Wednesday 19th March, the group is hosting a charity lunch with fish and chips, cake, quizzes and a raffle.
The event will be held at Frome Cricket Club, the home of the charity’s monthly meetings, from 10.30am to 12pm.
“We are a small, self-funded charity of volunteers that set up the group 10 years ago and, for many, it is the only time they can get out and be with like-minded people,” explained Vera Ford, a representative of the charity.
The group is also welcoming new members to join. Vera said, “We hold social meetings with speakers, small bands for music meetings, quizzes and raffles, and we take those who attend the group on outings.”
The group meets on the third Wednesday of each month at Frome Cricket Club from 10.30am to 12pm.
“All people with sight problems are welcome and, of course, you get tea, coffee and biscuits, plus a lovely social meeting,” says Vera.
