TWO gardens in Frome will open this weekend as part of Volunteers’ Week with the National Gardens Scheme.
Gardens will open at 9 Catherston Close and Mercers Cottage on Robins Lane on Sunday 19th June from 12pm to 5pm; combined admission for adults £4.50, under 16s free.
National Gardens Scheme’s Judith Stanford said, “These are two very varied gardens. Catherston Close is a town garden which has grown over the years to a third of an acre.
“It has colour-themed shrub and herbaceous borders, pond, patios, pergolas and wild meadow areas lead to wonderful far reaching views.
“A productive vegetable and fruit garden with greenhouse sit comfortably within this garden, and an exhibition of garden photography is displayed in the summerhouse.
“In total contrast, Mercers Cottage has been a work in progress for the resident gardener over the last four years, still with ongoing developments.
“This garden is being transformed from being uninteresting and non-productive to having a wealth of plants and shrubs.
“Unique art works, statuary and a small wildlife pond bring life into the garden area.”
Catherston Close has disabled access but Mercers Cottage does not. Proceeds go to the National Garden Scheme’s beneficiary charities.
