A MEMBER of the Frome Times delivery team, who recently trekked 13 miles for Parkinson’s UK and raised £1,296.43, has received an award from the charity for his efforts.
Chris Hill has been delivering the Frome Times for many years to residents in the town. He has Parkinson’s disease himself and wanted to do something to raise money for the charity and raise awareness of the support available.
Speaking about receiving an award from Parkinson’s UK he said, “I was quite surprised to receive this! It is really nice to be recognised. With having Parkinson’s myself and being in my seventies, the walk was quite strenuous at points. It was nice to receive an award for it.
“Thank you to everyone who supported me. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.”
To provide support for those with Parkinson’s disease in Frome there is a monthly coffee morning at Frome Town Hall. The next coffee morning is on Friday 2nd December at the town hall at 10am-2pm. For more information about this, ring Pat on 01373 467613.
