A volunteer in Frome has been recognised for his efforts after he was nominated as a finalist in the recent BBC Make a Difference Awards.
Ryan Atkins gives over 20 hours a week volunteering for The Pod Charity, which supports young people and adults with additional needs and their carers; he also volunteers at Victoria Park Cafe and the Frome Football Club.
He was nominated for the award by one of his friends and was selected as a finalist, attending the awards ceremony, which was held at Quantock Lakes, on Sunday 22nd September.
“I am also happy for the person who won the award and that I was recognised for my community volunteering,” said Ryan, who attended the ceremony with two friends and a colleague from The Pod Charity, Jonathan Smith.
Jonathan said, “Congratulations to Ryan for making it as a finalist. I have seen him grow in confidence over the last few years.”
