Frome 1st 4 – 3 Marlborough 2nds
Frome women’s hockey 1st team travelled away to Marlborough, a team situated just below them in the league.
The away disadvantage did not seem to bother Mackinder who very quickly put Frome in the lead by scoring twice.
A bit shell shocked, Marlborough settled and pulled one back which only spurred the Frome team on again allowing Matthews to score once more before half time.
Marlborough restructured after half time and started a comeback, putting the Frome defence under constant pressure. Rudlin controlled her defence well but Marlborough broke through scored another giving them hope of getting a draw. But Mackinder was having none of it and answered with Frome’s 4th and although Marlborough managed to get a late 3rd Frome left with the points.
Frome ladies are looking to utilise playing at local venues to welcome any new members to the club. Local women with some experience of playing are welcome to join. Go to www.fromehockey.com for more information.
