THREE local gardens will be open to the public as part of The National Garden Scheme.
9 Catherston Close (BA11 4HR) will be open this Thursday 20th June and Wednesday 3rd July from 12pm until 5pm. Entry is £4 for adults, children under 16 are free.
Describing the garden, organisers say, “Walk around the corner and see the unexpected, a small town garden which has grown to ⅓ acre, this garden truly has the wow factor!
“This is a Gold winner in the Frome-in-Bloom competition. Interesting and ever changing colour-themed shrub and herbaceous borders greet you. Look into the pond to see the activity in and around it, nearby pergolas support numerous climbing plants, lead you down to the wild meadow area and to wonderful far reaching views.
“A productive ‘no dig’ vegetable and fruit garden is full of rich rewards. On the opposite side of the garden the summerhouse is home to an exhibition of garden photography, from near and far, by the garden owner.
“There are shallow steps and gravel onto the grassed area, but is accessible for those with mobility restrictions.”
On Sunday 23rd June, 9 Catherson Close joins two other local gardens for an open day titled ‘Frome Gardens’. Entry is £6 for adults, children under 16 free entry, which covers the three gardens; entry will be by ticket bought in the first garden visited.

Describing 3 Lynfield Road, organisers say, “Olive, fig and lemon trees thrive in this walled Mediterranean-themed Frome back garden. A rejuvenated 1970s garden, a 3yr project comes to fruition. Combining hard landscaping with soft planting where many interesting plants have grown. Water features gurgle while roses and clematis climb up the pergolas.”
