FROME residents are being encouraged to get on their bikes for Cycle September.
The event is a global challenge to help more people realise the benefits of riding a bike. Participants earn points by riding and encouraging others to ride too.
Organisers say, “Ride anywhere, anytime – to the shops, to work or even a quick 10 minute spin around your local park – to earn points and enter the draw for amazing prizes!”
To support Frome’s cyclists, residents can use the website www.lovetoride.net/ frome to register, log trips, set personal, upload photos, share stories and more.
The website was set up by Frome local, Sam Robinson, who is the director of the social business ‘Love to Ride’. Sam said, “We’ve seen record numbers of people jump in the saddle in recent months and our work supporting these people and also engaging regular riders is critical when looking at long term change and mode shift from car to bike.
“Love to Ride can support this and encourage others to realise the benefits from cycling. So far we have 70 people registered including 13 new riders. It would be great to grow these numbers and create a real resource for the town.”
