Golf day pockets £4,000 for MS charity

A beautiful sunny day was enjoyed at Orchardleigh Golf Club where 14 local companies enjoyed 18 holes to support the Wessex MS Therapy Centre.  

Nigel and Tricia Winchcombe and their son Ross, from Automated Entry Systems in Westbury, organised the day to raise much needed funds for the charity that Tricia uses on a weekly basis for her multiple sclerosis.

The therapy centre is based in Warminster and offers long term pain management for those suffering from multiple sclerosis. The therapies include physiotherapy, massage therapy, counselling, reflexology, oxygen therapy and yoga. The centre is a vital lifeline to many local people with MS, their carers and families.

The golf day had a charity auction with items ranging from a signed Wembley seat from Gordon Banks, which is a rare collector’s item; a signed Bath rugby shirt, a circuit run at Castle Combe race track in an Ariel Atom 300 and many more stunning items.

Rosie Eliot, the therapy centre manager said, “It was a wonderful day and everybody worked really hard and had great fun. A big thank you to everyone involved for making it such a successful event, especially to the people who sponsored the tees and greens and made donations for the day. Also to the many people who donated prizes for the auction and raffle. The £4,000 will go a long way to help our members to manage their MS.”
