Boxing fans can enjoy a full afternoon of action when Frome Amateur Boxing Club stages its latest Home Show next month.
The event takes place at Frome Town Football Club in Berkley Road on Sunday 4th October, with around 16 bouts expected to feature on the card.
Eight boxers will be representing Frome ABC, with opponents travelling to the town for the event.
Club chairman Rich Allen said, “The atmosphere is always great at our home shows, especially with the local boxers on the card.
“It will be a great afternoon of entertaining bouts and a chance to see top class amateur boxing right here in Frome.”
The show is also an important fundraiser for the club.
“It is important to put on an event like this because we are a self-funded club,” added Rich. “Every ticket sold helps keep us going. Every £15 on the door, for example, allows us to buy two budget skipping ropes. They snap frequently in the winter because they are so cold.”
The club says its shows also help support its wider work in the community, with boxing attracting people of different ages and backgrounds.
“We have a thriving club here in Frome which is going from strength to strength,” said Rich. “Boxing is great for all types of characters and people from all backgrounds. It can be particularly beneficial for people with anxiety, ADHD or low self-esteem, and sometimes children feel that coming to us is a safer place because of issues at home.”
Tickets for the show cost £15 and are available by calling 07891 124569 or on the door. Doors open at 1.30pm and the boxing starts at 2pm.
