Two wonderful – and strikingly different – local poets will be serving up a feast of words in a special poetry double-bill at Hunting Raven Books on Thursday 20th February.
Robert Hull has a background in education and has written extensively both for adults and children. Having met his wife in Canada, they returned to the UK and made Sussex their home for 50 years. Now a proud local, Robert Hull continues to write poetry and hosts a local poets’ group. He will be reading from several of his published collections, including the most recent, ‘Fading Presences’.
Dave Walsham describes his poetry as ‘slightly anarchic’ and the collection he will be reading from ‘Magnum Mopus’ veers from wryly humorous to quietly moving. The collection is a truly local project, designed by Jennifer Newbury of Mount Design and published by their in-house imprint Mount Art Books.
The event takes place at Hunting Raven bookshop on Cheap Street. Doors open at 7pm for refreshments and browsing, with a 7.30pm start. There is a £3 entry charge, which can be redeemed against purchases of either authors’ books on the night. Space is limited, so booking is strongly advised. To book, call 01373 473111 or email winstonebooks3 @gmail.com. Alternatively, you can reserve your place online at www.bit.ly/HRBPoetryDouble
