I know… the campaign designed to build upon the collective support between parents, celebrated a successful launch at the Frome Children’s Festival.
Over 400 badges were shared with parents attending the event and were seen being worn with pride throughout the day.
Veronica Roberts, the founder of I know… said, “The launch went even better than we’d hoped, in part due to our amazing volunteers who helped spread the word throughout the day; but also because of all the wonderful Frome parents we spoke to at the Festival who all showed a real desire to support one another as parents, and were therefore keen to join the collective!”
The badges serve as a symbol of mutual understanding and support between parents – a recognition of how tough we can all find it at times. The idea is that in those ‘moments’ of chaos, crisis and overwhelm that can occur every day as a parent, no parent need feel alone in them. Instead, in those moments, parents will be able to look around and see other parents wearing their badge which simply communicates: “I know…I get it, you’re not alone, let me help,” even if that is just with a smile or kind word.
Feedback at the launch was overwhelmingly positive, with many parents saying it was a great initiative that would really support them as parents. “It’s just such a beautiful idea!” one parent said. Grandparents were also invited to join and one commented, “The trouble is, it was so long ago for us, that we’ve forgotten what it is like to be a parent; but this helps us remember and be a bit more understanding. Thank you!”
If you missed the launch but are keen to be part of the I know… parent collective you can now buy your badges at Hunting Raven Books, Ellenbray and SEED in Frome.
