Bath Cats & Dogs Home is re-opening its charity shop on Stony Street in Frome town centre, following several weeks of refurbishment.
Mayor Damon Hooton and mayoress Claire Hudson will officially toast the occasion at a celebratory event due to take place at the premises on Saturday 31st October at 10.30am.
A complete renovation, including a store re-fit, an increase in floor space, an improvement in window visibility and a new EPOS till system has totally transformed the former outdated shop. An EPOS system will potentially enable the animal charity to re-claim Gift Aid from HM Revenue and Customs on 28p for every £1 spent on purchases customers make. Clients will now be able to enjoy searching for that something special at a very reasonable price in a modern, stylish environment.
Jeff Brown, retail manager, comments, “This is a fresh start for our Frome charity shop that will enable us to make more money to help the animals in our care. We are updating our retail premises to offer customers the opportunity to purchase an exciting range of high quality items within an attractive, fully refurbished, brighter, more professional, environment. This enjoyable shopping experience should encourage them to spend more and increase our revenues to help look after the hundreds of animals in our care. As highlighted by the Mary Portas ‘Queen of Charity Shops’ programme, we want to focus on receiving high quality donations so that we can turn our Frome shop into the must go place for something special!”
The shop is stocking good quality bric-a-brac items, books, CDs and DVDs, vinyl LPs, nearly-new clothes, children’s toys, home electrical goods, xmas cards featuring animals at the shelter, and dog accessories. All profits will go towards caring for the hundreds of unwanted dogs, cats and small animals the shelter looks after every day. It costs £3,000 a day to operate Bath Cats and Dogs Home, so every purchase made in the Frome Shop will directly contribute to the care of its animals.
