A local man in his 80s was flown to hospital by the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance after his car was in collision with a tractor on a country road near Frome.
The pensioner, suffered head injuries during the collision. The tractor was cutting hedges on the road in Berkley when the accident happened at about 12.33pm on Thursday 26th November.
Air ambulance paramedic Mark Williams said, “We were not sure if he had lost consciousness at some point and because it was a head injury he needed to be taken to hospital as quickly as possible.
“We were able to land in a field next to the road while the doors to his vehicle were removed so we could get him out and fly him to hospital.”
The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance took the man to the Royal United Hospital, Bath, where the helicopter landed in just nine minutes.
