With a brand new ‘countryside area’ where demonstrations of rural skills and pastimes will take place all day, with a complete sell out in the local food hall, with just one space left in the rural craft hall, with an even bigger cheese pavilion and more cattle, sheep and goat classes than ever before, Frome Show 2010 is already shaping up to be one of the most successful in its almost 150 year history.
It all takes place on just one day, Saturday, 11th September, but that’s not all! The programme of entertainment on the village green is even more spectacular than ever, with the incredible motor cycling stunt skills of the UK FMX Freestyle Show contrasting with the enthralling Wylye Valley Pony Club competitions. The main ring will, as usual, feature show jumping and carriage driving ,with the grand parade providing a brilliant climax to the day’s programme.
And with attractions throughout the rest of the 70 acre West Woodland Show Ground as varied as ferret racing, dog agility displays and cookery demonstrations in The Cheese Pavilion’s RangeMaster kitchen given by TV chef Martin Blunos, organisers are confident that this family event will have even more ‘must visit this great day out’ appeal.
Brenda Scott, show secretary added, “That’s all in addition to the funfair, the giant inflatables, the catering area where all tastes are, literally, catered for, music from Frome Town Youth Band and all of the other attractions which have helped make the show so popular.
“We’ve laid on more mobility scooters than last year when they were all hired, which means that those who have mobility problems can get round the site without any problem, especially as we have upgraded the mile of internal roads on the site.”
Brenda added, “We have also passed a major milestone with the total of sponsors for the show now over 150 which shows just how successful Frome Show has become, not just as a day out but also as a major opportunity.”
