A GROUND-BREAKING new free counselling service was launched at Frome Community Hospital last week.
It will mean that in-patients, their carers, and family members will be able to access free counselling at the hospital.
Matron Janet Saunders said, “This is a ground-breaking unique service which we are delighted to be able to offer.”
The service has been made possible through Wessex Counselling Service, of King Street, Frome, with a grant of £2,500 from Friends of Frome Hospital.
Clinical manager Julie Wilde said. “We are most grateful for this grant from the Friends of Frome Hospital, which has made it possible for the first time to provide free counselling actually in the hospital where it is so accessible to patients, carers and family.
“Being in hospital can raise all sorts of anxieties and to be able to get this professional help can make a huge difference to people who may be struggling with sometimes very frightening, or challenging life events.
“Both patients themselves and carers and relatives can access this service, and benefit from exploring whatever is troubling them. All they need to do is ring 01373 453355 to arrange an initial appointment.”
