A new affordable, professional, person-centred counselling agency for children, adults and young people has opened its doors in the heart of Frome.
On Friday 6th September, a special launch ceremony was held at Church Cottage by St John’s Church where Frome Mayor, Mark Dorrington, and Prof Brian Thorne officially declared Focus Frome open by cutting the ribbon on the counselling agency’s front door.
At the launch, Mark Dorrington, stated, “Focus Frome will be a great addition to the health and wellbeing in our town. This highly respected charity currently sees around 150 clients a week from their premises in Bath. In Frome, they are already receiving referrals from doctors, social workers, family support workers, the YMCA and individuals who need their services. We wish the team every success.”
Jan Robertson, CEO of Focus Counselling, said, “We are delighted to have opened our new person-centred counselling therapy rooms in Frome with the support of St John’s church. We are based in St John’s cottage on the church forecourt. We hope that this peaceful setting in the heart of Frome will provide a safe, open space for adults, children and young people in the town and the surrounding areas.
“Focus counselling is a registered charity and we are grateful to our partners in the community who support our work which enables us to subsidise our clients who would not normally be able to access our services. We are particularly grateful to the team of volunteers from St John’s Church who worked so hard to renovate and restore the cottage to the homely and cosy place it is today and Frome Community Lottery who awarded us a £500 grant to furnish our therapy rooms.”
The launch was sponsored by The Cornerhouse who kindly provided a sparkling drinks reception to all the launch guests and ASDA Frome who donated the scones for a delicious cream tea.
Visitors were given a tour of Focus Frome’s three new practice rooms which have been refurbished and beautifully decorated by a team of volunteers from St John’s Church as well as Focus Counselling staff.
Focus Frome is a branch of Focus Counselling which is a highly respected and busy counselling agency in the centre of Bath which has been serving the community for 20 years. Last year the charity provided over 5,000 hours of counselling. The agency abides by the Code and Ethics of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
