FROME Lions Club members recently made a visit to Frome Livestock Market at Standerwick to present a cheque for £1,500 to members of the Frome Market Health Hub.
The money raised came from the proceeds of this year’s annual Haybale collection which is one of the Lions’ longest running fundraisers.
Each year the Lions visit farms in the area and invite the farmers to donate bales of hay or straw which are then sold on to other farmers who have not produced any. Supporters can also make cash donations should they so wish in lieu.
Administrator of the Health Hub, Diana Bourne, said she was extremely grateful to the Lions for nominating them as this year’s beneficiary and said the money would be used to support all farming or agricultural workers in the area and their families by offering free confidential health checks and advice.
