FROME Town Council’s resilience officer Katie Fraser, Wild About Trees project officer Helen Viner and members of the community team spent time with Vallis First School’s new Eco Council on Thursday 11th January.
Pupils spent time discussing and exploring the area around the school, then dedicated themselves to litter picking around the school site.
Katie said, “I met with the new Eco Council to clear up the area around the school and they filled three whole bin liners with rubbish. We spoke about why it is important to litter pick, the impact of littering on our environment and wildlife, and also the benefits to our wellbeing and mood (particularly boosting our serotonin levels in the sun!).
“Thanks so much to Vallis for doing such brilliant work with their pupils and above all the children themselves.”
