A new musical enterprise, Live Lounge, will be presenting the indie-folk-rock band, Speak Brother, who recently supported Tame Impala’s “Barbagallo.” The band is now kicking off their own album release tour with an acoustic set at Costa Coffee in Frome on Friday 16th March,
Speak, Brother are described as a vulnerable, honest and ethereal indie-folk‐rock with subtle hymnal and gospel tones, lush vocal harmonies, rustic instrumentation and contagious heartfelt lyrics, compared with Of Monsters and Men, Kodaline, Fleet Foxes, Mumford & Sons, Ben Howard and Foy Vance.
Speak Brother’s latest single “Magnesium Burn” was released on 16th February and the debut album ‘Young & Brave’ is to be released 13th April, accompanied by a UK headline tour.
James Herring of Speak, Brother explained, “The new single, Magnesium Burn, comes from a deep well of frustration in my life. Fear has kept me contained and depression has weighed me down. I’ve been distracted from what’s real, worrying what’s behind the corner. I’ve not done things, said things, loved people just because I’m not sure what would happen. Every day it’s better to just autonomously play it safe, stay afloat and hope something one day changes. There is this deep longing to just run, run into the dark places like a child into the fields. I think it’s at those places when we’re most uncomfortable and just about out of control of the outcome, where we really live, grow and become free.”
Live Lounge is a family-friendly evening event, held on the third Friday of the month between 7-9pm, showcasing musicians with a positive message, as well as giving space to hear stories of hope, triumph and redemption.
The event is hosted by Bryce Tangvald, local youth worker, and sponsored by the faith communities of Frome in a bid to bring inspiration and hope through live music in response to the current epidemic of depression and anxiety, especially amongst young people.
The event is free to attend, but it is requested that attendees buy refreshments to show respect for Costa’s generous hospitality.
