MAYOR Toby Eliot and MP David Warburton have both signed up for a firewalk to raise funds for charity.
The firewalk will take place at Frome College on Saturday 12th November between 6- 9pm with up to 100 brave people taking part to help raise money to enable SOS Africa to build a new classroom which will provide vital educational support to underprivileged children in South Africa.
Cllr Eliot, who is also raising funds for local charity Fair Frome recognises the importance of supporting the work carried out by grassroots organisations. He said, “The firewalk will be something entirely new for me and I don’t mind admitting I’m a little apprehensive. However, I hope that, as well as creating an unusual spectacle in Frome (and possibly some singed feet), we’ll raise the profile of these two locally-run charities and the important work they do both in the town and in some of the most poverty- stricken parts of the world.”

David Warburton MP, is an ‘experienced’ fire walker, having completed the challenge once before in 2014!
SOS Africa founder, Matt Crowcombe, will be first to take on the challenge. He said, “We are extremely grateful for the fantastic support provided by Toby Eliot, David Warburton MP, Frome FM, Frome College and the local community. There are still a limited number of firewalking spaces available if you wish to join us – on what promises to be a special night for the charity! And if the firewalking isn’t entertainment enough, we will have music courtesy of Frome FM, a hog roast, fire juggler and Frome Fire Station has even offered to bring an engine to put out the coals at the end of the evening!”
