AFTER taking a break during the summer, Nevertheless Pub Theatre is back in town with a thrilling double-bill of monologues by award-winning writer/performer Joan Ellis.
Direct from a run at the Edinburgh Festival, Died Blondes will be in Frome for two days; Thursday 28th and Friday 29th September.
Died Blondes powerfully re-imagines the last words of two famous women; movie star Marilyn Monroe and murderer Ruth Ellis. Writer-performer Joan Ellis uses new theories to give these two so-called ‘dumb blondes’ a voice to share their real thoughts moments before they die.
Marilyn Monroe whispers secrets about the Kennedy clan down the phone to ex-husband Joe DiMaggio, while Ruth Ellis – the last woman hanged in Britain – reads her letter to the lover who humiliated her and pushed her to take terrible revenge.
Audiences and critics have described Died Blondes as ‘mesmerising’, ‘electrifying’, ‘chilling and moving’, ‘imaginative and profound’, and ‘outstanding.’ Nevertheless Pub Theatre has a reputation for ‘up-close and gritty’ drama, and directors Rosie Finnegan and Crysse Morrison are thrilled to be bringing this gem to a Frome audience.
The Archangel in King Street will be the venue for this production, and all seats are £5. Performance starts at 8pm, with a running time of around an hour. Advance booking is strongly recommended: contact either Rosie (07736 346864) or Crysse (01373 304531)
