LOCAL charity, Fair Frome, which provides services to those in acute need, is looking for new trustees.
Fair Frome runs the local food bank, the newly-created furniture bank, community dining events and other services designed to provide practical support to meet basic needs and to promote community cohesion.
Fair Frome also speaks out against inequality and has campaigned for the Living Wage, Access for All and other issues which have an adverse impact upon local people. Fair Frome is currently receiving an unprecedented demand for all their services, especially the food bank.
Bob Ashford, the chair of trustees for Fair Frome said, “Fair Frome continues to go from strength to strength, thanks to its committed staff, volunteers, trustees and the very generous people of Frome. Frome is a relatively prosperous place, but many people in work and out of work struggle to make ends meet. Working with other charities, voluntary organisations and the statutory sector, we continue to build our services to try to meet some of those needs. We now need more trustees to help us achieve that aim.
“Trustees meet formally on a monthly basis to oversee the work we do, and staff and budgets etc. Trustees though are also volunteers and get involved in helping to run our events and fund raising etc. We don’t just need people with ideas, we need people who are prepared to help with the practical work needed to put those ideas into action.
“We are also especially keen to recruit people as trustees who may have experienced some difficulties in their own lives or be close to people that have. In this way we hope to get a better understanding of the needs of people who use our services, so that we can improve them.”
Fair Frome would like to hear from all those interested before the 11th November. Please send a brief (no more than one side of A4) letter (not a CV) setting out your experiences and why you think they would lend themselves to becoming a Fair Frome trustee.
