HOLLYWOOD has the Oscars, Britain the BAFTAs, and Frome has the Star Awards when the Frome Musical Theatre Company rewards its outstanding performers of the last year.
Frome Music Theatre Company held the Grease Dinner Dance & 2017 Star Awards at the Cheese & Grain on Saturday 8th April. The awards are held every year to reward the best local theatrical talent who have performed at and contributed to the group’s shows over the past 12 months.
This year’s winners were as follows: Best Female Singing Performance: Dora Bishop. Best Male Singing Performance: Ryan Hughes. Outstanding Contribution: Ollie Day. Best Young Female Performer: Astrid Bishop. Best Young Male Performer: Tom Hill. Best Performance in a Minor Role: Hannah Stamp. Members Award of Appreciation: Carol Stacey. Best Comic Performance: Lisa Kendall. Unsung Hero: Will Davis. Best Newcomer: Scott Ward. Best Supporting Actress: Vic Withers. Best Supporting Actor: Scott Ward, Oli Wareham & Kevin Withers. Best Actress: Dora Bishop. Best Actor: Ryan Hughes. Best Overall Performance: Dora Bishop. Special commendation: The Seven Dwarfs – Flo Caidan, Dillon Endicott, Dominic Evans, Tilly Haines, Noah Hardy, Tamlin Head & Edward Twigger. Best Under 21 Singing: Emma Aspray.
Bob Stannard was also presented with a NODA medal for 70 years with the company while Steph Hoar received her 25-year NODA medal.
