Oakfield Academy year 8 netball team exceeded expectations at the U13s Netball Festival at Kingdown School, Warminster, recently.
Anna Pullen, head of PE said, “Although the shortest team by far, and getting drenched twice, in some very energetic play, Oakfield girls played strictly by the rules.
“They drew 6-6 with the winners of the tournament and won 2 games and drew the other.
“Despite being the rank outsiders, they came 3rd overall out of 7. That seemed a complete surprise to the England netball coach who was running the event. They beat Kingdown (the hosts) 3-1 in the last game, much to their disappointment!”
