Auditions to be in the cast of Merlin Theatre Productions’ My Fair Lady will take place at the Merlin Theatre on Sunday 19th May at 10am.
The performances will be on Thursday 17th, Friday 18th and Saturday 19th October 2019.
All are welcome to come along to audition! You can audition for a main part or a chorus role.
When Lerner and Loewe’s My Fair Lady opened on Broadway, it collected six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, while the film version took home eight Oscars, including Best Picture.
Based on George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion, My Fair Lady is that rare musical by which all others are measured. The tale of a cockney flower girl transformed into an elegant lady features one of musical theatre’s greatest scores, including: “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?,” “With a Little Bit of Luck,” “The Rain in Spain,” “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “On the Street Where You Live,” “Get Me to the Church on Time,” and “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face.”
Eliza Doolittle is a young flower seller with an unmistakable Cockney accent which keeps her in the lower rungs of Edwardian society. When Professor Henry Higgins tries to teach her how to speak like a proper lady, an unlikely friendship begins to flourish.
You will need to be an MTP member to audition which you can pay on the audition day via cash or card. The membership fee is £10 for children or anyone in full time education and £20 for adults. The show production fee is £25 but only members that are cast will be required to pay this.
For the audition day, come in comfortable clothing for the dancing and with plenty of water and food. You will be taught the dance during the audition. Please bring hard shoes or boots for the dancing, we will be making some noise! If you are a tap dancer, bring your tap shoes along too.
Start time is 10am and it will finish no later than 4pm.
Age Limit: You will need to be 16+ at the time of the show to audition (school year 11).
