TWO fundraising events were recently held for the Frome-based charity ‘Building Bridges for Peace’, raising over £8,000.
The Charity, run by Jo Berry, promotes peace and conflict resolution throughout the world. On Saturday 1st July a piano marathon was held at Selwood Academy. Nick Petts was sponsored per hour for 10 hours continuous playing. A variety of musicians and singers joined him throughout the day.
The second event was held recently at Unicorn Village voice camp not far from Frome, and involved an auction and other fundraising activities for its 500 plus attendees.
Jo Berry, who attended both events, said, “I am very grateful to the amazing people in Frome for their support and generosity. This support and funds raised from both events is life changing for me and will enable me to be more effective in my work and make more impact. Right now with an increase in hatred and fear, we need more messages and demonstrations of empathy and love, which can support people in becoming positive change makers.”
David Tanner, who was involved in organising both events said, “Although a lot of hard work went into these events, they were fun! I would like to thank Nick Petts and Karine Butchart for their vital contribution, as well as the auction team and helpers at camp.”
