LOCAL charity Positive Action on Cancer brought some festive cheer to hundreds of children at their annual Christmas Grotto as part of Frome’s Extravaganza.
The special event proved as popular as ever raising £370 to help PAC support families affected by cancer.
Fundraising assistant Helen Sprawson-White said, “The Friday evening went really well, we had support from Co-operative Travel in Frome who supplied us with a team of Santa’s helpers and the Frome Standard who sponsored the gifts for the children. The Wedding Emporium supplied props so that we could transform the inside of the caravan into a festive haven for Santa and his elf!
“We had so many lovely comments about how magical it was inside, it was amazing to see the community braving the cold and wet to support Frome and the many organisations involved in the Extravaganza.
“Santa had a lovely evening meeting the children of Frome, he was especially pleased to receive some early letters.
“Unfortunately we had an unforeseen mechanical issue with the caravan that was fixed temporarily for the Friday night, but it meant that sadly we were not able to run the grotto on the Saturday as planned.
“We are really disappointed that we couldn’t run the second session and are sorry to anyone that was hoping to see Santa on the Saturday.
“We would like to thank everyone involved in making it a successful evening and to those who came along to see Santa and support PAC.
“We are only able to deliver the life changing service that we offer because of the huge community support that we receive at events like these. If anyone would like to get in touch about accessing our service or supporting us in other ways they can call the PAC office on 01373 455255.”
