Frome Friends of Palestine will be laying a wreath at Frome War Memorial for the first time on Sunday 11th November.
“Many young men from the Frome area served in Palestine during the First World War, and several of them lost their lives,” said a spokesperson for the group.
“Many more served in Palestine during the thirty-year British Mandate, as civil servants or in the Palestine Police. Our wreath is laid in commemoration of everyone in Palestine who has found themselves caught up in conflict.”
Olive twigs are interwoven with the poppies, as a symbol not just of peace but of the Holy Land itself, and the inscription reads; “In memory of all those people from Frome and elsewhere who served in Palestine.”
