A FORMER Frome College maths teacher, Chris Curtis, is hosting an inter-county tournament of his new strategy boardgame, Prometheus, with 50% of all proceeds from the event going to support those in Ukraine.
The event is part of National Board Game Day and will take place during the Easter holidays on the 11th April at the Cheese and Grain from 4pm to 8pm.
Organisers say, “Prometheus is a fast-paced strategy game for players aged 7+. As part of National Board Game Day, Prometheus is hosting a Somerset versus Wiltshire tournament. This is a fun event for the Easter holidays appealing to families as well as the board game enthusiast.
“What better way to spend your afternoon testing your strategy skills with family and friends while competing for your county? No experience of playing Prometheus is required, it is super easy to learn. Are you ready for the challenge?
“Please purchase tickets individually so you can specify your age and where you live and we can allocate the right opponents and county team for you.”
Chris, who was head of maths at Frome College for more than 25 years, invented the strategy game seven years ago and launched it last year.
The county prize is £100 for a local charity of choice and individual prizes on the day include two Prometheus Deluxe editions worth £295, ten mainstream sets for the runners up plus lots of exciting raffle prizes. Tickets are £5 with 50% of the proceeds raised from the event being donated to the Red Cross Ukrainian Humanitarian Appeal.
