“Speaking in public takes preparation and nerve – especially when you are just 13 years old!” reports Frome Rotary Club.
“Undaunted by this challenge, a total of 15 pupils from Selwood Academy and Frome Community College took part in the Rotary Youth Speaks competition in front of a live audience and three judges – including the Frome Mayor Mark Dorrington, Hilary Kennard, and Michael Joyce from sponsors Cooper and Tanner.
“After speaking on a topic of their choice for five minutes each, six pupils – working together in teams of three – were chosen to go through to the regional semi-finals of Youth Speaks on February 13th at 6pm in Standerwick Market.
“Going through to the regional semi-finals are two teams from Frome Community College comprising Willow Lamont Jiggens (best speaker); Sylvana Rogers; and Elianne Cann (team one); Isabel Witcombe; Samuel Young; and Patrycja Raczkowska (team two).
