Two well-known Frome personalities have teamed up for an event that promises to reveal a more seditious side to the town.
Authors Crysse Morrison and David Lassman have created ‘Rogues, Rebels & Renegades’ for this year’s Frome Festival.
The 90-minute walk will take place on the first Sunday (7th July) from 4pm and will be repeated on the following Thursday (11th July) from 11am.
It will begin each time from the Jensen Button Bridge and finish with an informal (and optional) gathering at a local hostelry to be announced during the walks.
Among the sites included will be the Market Place, where over the centuries various riots, pitched battles and a nineteenth century murder have taken place.
The origins of non-conformity in the town will be revealed outside St John’s Church and the walk will end at Frome’s original gaol, the Blind House,
Crysse Morrison is the author of ‘Frome Unzipped – from Prehistory to Post-Punk’. She is also an acclaimed novelist, short story writer and poet.
David Lassman is author of several books on Frome, runs courses on the town’s history for Frome Community Education and co-writes Frome Times Past.
David said, “It is so great to be collaborating with Crysse on this project. I know the walks are going to be lots of fun and very informative for participants.”
Places are limited. For full details and tickets see the Frome festival website or brochure.
