FROME Rotary Club has taken over an empty shop in the Westway Precinct to raise money for local causes.
Club president Gerry Atkinson said, “We are delighted to be given this opportunity by the Westway Precinct owners to use what otherwise would be an empty shop.
“Whilst the money we raise from sales goes directly back to local causes, we have also used the opportunity to use some funds to contribute to the purchase of water survival boxes. These provide a rapid response for families who have no access to safe drinking water and have lost their homes and possessions.
“Rotary clubs throughout the world send these boxes to disaster areas and they are a vital part of helping families recover from terrible events.”
Frome Rotary spokes-person Margaret Gilmour added, “This isn’t a standard charity shop as much of the raised money goes to local causes. In addition, the club is allowing other local charities to take over the shop for a week or longer to help them boost their funds.”
