This summer will see an opportunity for something new at the Cheese and Grain. SkillUp Summer, an exciting programme of free workshops and activities is on offer for the first time in Frome, thanks to money from the Big Lottery Fund.
Organiser Val Fox said, “We’re planning a series of free activities which we’re sure will appeal to all ages. They’ll range from mending a puncture on your bike to getting help with starting a new business and will be a mix of fun and practical help.
”We’re delighted to have been awarded this grant by the Big Lottery Fund. We want to use it to attract a wide group of people who are keen to improve their skills, have some fun and meet new people while they’re doing it.
“The Cheese and Grain is a perfect venue because it’s easy to get to and has a relaxed atmosphere where local people can improve their skills or learn a new one. They might be leaving home for the first time, need a bit of fun exercise or be struggling with debt. They could join in as a family or come with a friend.”
She added, “We’ll also be offering a free crèche so that mums, dads or carers can take part.”
SkillUp Summer will run from 11th to 22nd August at the Cheese and Grain and booking will start at the beginning of August. More information will be available in the next few weeks on the Frome Community Education website: www.frome commed.org.uk
